Finally having unpacked his last box, Drusten breaks down the cardboard and sets it aside. He'd have rather had trunks for all his possessions, but he had all of his possessions with him. He was not one who had a home to go back to once the school year ended. He was immensely relieved to hear that that was not a problem. The Closet of Convenience was a very nifty piece of magic. He wondered if the Headmistress, Merry knew how to enchant closets like that or if it was a pre-installed affair from the history of this castle. Drusten unlike most within the walls of this castle was not raised around magic, therefore he found it very fascinating. He did not consider himself magical at all, although according to Wizarding law he was and must remain innocuous to Muggles. "Such a funny term for the normal people out there. Mortals to me now, but always referred to as Muggles by everyone else..." Drusten often spoke to himself when alone because most of his life he has been alone. Spending too much time in the company of someone like himself was very dangerous to mortals, no matter how old Wizards lived.
He sat down at the huge ornate desk that had been provided for him. It was lovely. Dark rich wood, well oiled and gleaming. Such care was taken with all the items in the castle that Drusten had noticed. He wondered where the cleaning crew was kept. He knew there were House Elves here, all manners of wizarding folk employed them. He was quite happy to hear they were truly employed now. He'd known quite a few families who'd badly mistreated them as families of old that Drusten remembered, had treated slaves. He had to admit though that of all the castles he'd visited over his numerous years that this one was by far the best kept. Sighing, he looked out the now dark window behind him. Darkness was his ally as always, but so how he longed to see the face of the sun one more time. It was always the same with others he'd met. The longing for the sun and the fear of the addiction. Oh and the loneliness. Always alone because it was safest.
Sitting up straighter Drusten quieted his breaths even going so far as to stop just so he could hear. A smile playing across his lips as he heard footsteps. It was just shy of midnight and just as he'd hoped, not everyone in a huge castle slept all through the night.
