Aurora doesn't exist in a vacuum. Here is what we have determined about the wider wizarding world at this time. Again, feel free to add to what's already here!
The Wizarding World in Canada:
The Wizarding World in the US:
The United States has a Department of Magic hidden within the American government. It was originally developed as the Ministry of Magic before the revolution but was redesigned and renamed after the war ended.
There are several magical schools across the North American continent. Most of them developed in the US as wizards travelled west. These schools include (but are not limited to): Salem Magic Academy in Massachusetts, which was one of the first schools in the country; Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, also in Massachusetts, which is the largest school in the country; Williamsburg Wizarding Academy, another old school, located in Virginia; Facilier Magic Academy in New Orleans, which caters to purebloods and offers a darker curriculum in addition to more traditional classes; a school in Colorado, a school in the upper northwest; Golden Gate Magic Academy, an elite private academy in California, and a small school in Hawaii.
Students on the North American continent (including the US, Canada, and Mexico) are allowed to choose which school they attend. They may get several letters from different schools when they turn 11. Students and their parents are allowed to choose a school based on location and school philosophy, and students are allowed to transfer between schools.
The Wider Wizarding World:
The Wizarding World in Canada:
- Most major cities have hidden magical markets like Diagon Alley. There are also small towns like Snowy Vale that are only for witches and wizards.
- The nearest hospital to Snowy Vale is Bonham Infirmerie.
- The magical bank in Canada is called Arlok Wizarding Bank. It is technically a branch of Gringotts, but has been given a new name.
- The North American wizard prison is on Alcatraz Island. Although it now looks like a museum to Muggles, it is still an active magical prison. Any wizards charged with crimes in Canada, the US, or Mexico are sent to Alcatraz.
- Canada has a Ministry of Magic, just like England.
- Aurora is the only Canadian magic school, but students who live far away from the school can choose to attend a US school that's closer to them if they wish.

The Wider Wizarding World:
- There have been attacks in recent years in several Ministries of Magic, including the one in New Zealand.
