The Founding of Aurora Borealis Academy
Aurora Borealis Academy was founded in the 1600s by four witches and wizards. Their names were Aurora Sweeting, Nicodemus Prudens, Luc Bonnaire, and Mirabelle Bonnaire. The Bonnaires were siblings. Aurora and Nicodemus were not related to each other or to the other founders.
Aurora Sweeting was an English woman and a pureblood. She founded Leona House because she valued students with independence and cunning, those who went after what they wanted with their whole hearts. Aurora threw her whole heart into creating the school and working with her fellow founders.
Nicodemus Prudens was also English, although he never spoke of his family. He was the oldest of the founders, being nearly twice the age of the other three when he came to work with them. No one knows what his blood status was. Whatever it was, he accepted students of all blood statuses to his house, Boreas, provided they showed a thirst for knowledge.
Luc Bonnaire was a former French soldier and a Muggleborn. He founded Polera house for those with loyal hearts, those who would fight for what they believed was right, and those who protected the ones they loved. He was a renowned duelist.
Mirabelle Bonnaire was Luc's sister and was known for her sunny disposition and her ability to mediate disputes. She founded Roane house for those students who shared her playfulness and her joy in everything about life.
About five years after the school was founded, Aurora Sweeting was killed in a terrible accident. The other three founders went on without her, but the sorrow of her death affected the other three for the rest of their lives.
Of the four founders, Mirabelle was the only one who married after the founding of the school. Aurora was killed before she could marry anyone. Luc never married. Nicodemus, if he was married at any time, never mentioned it. He did not have a wife with him when he came to Aurora.
Of course, since the school has come a long way since the 1600s, there is a lot more history to be uncovered. Did the founders have any descendants? Did they build any secrets into the school? Did any famous witches or wizards graduate from Aurora over the years? How was Aurora involved in the larger wizarding world over time?
