Rita was barely able to grab a hold of the back of a chair as the MagiBus came to a very abrupt stop. She’d stood up when the Toronto Zoo stop had been announced, because she’d wanted to have her eyes on her students, but she always forgot how suddenly the bus stopped. She hated traveling with it, but since the entrance to the Toronto Creature Zoo was located inside the Muggle Toronto Zoo taking a portkey just wasn’t possible. So she’d led her class down to Snowy Vale, where they’d caught a ride with the MagiBus, who had them at the Zoo in half an hour.
“Listen up, kids,” Rita said loudly. “We’re getting off here, make sure you take all your things! And remember, we’re around Muggles, so no talk of magic, okay? And make sure your wands are out of sight.”
Rita waited next to the driver as her students filed out, counting them under her breath to make sure she left no one behind. They were all dressed in Muggle clothes, even Rita, and she had to admit it was strange. The green dress she was wearing covered her well enough, as it had a high neckline and fell past her knees, but she missed her robes.
Once Rita was sure all her students were out of the MagiBus, she stepped out herself. As the bus pulled away to its next destination, Rita took a deep breath to hide her nervousness. It was far busier than she’d expected from a weekday, and there were Muggles everywhere. “All right, gather around, please. Stay close while we make our way inside, I don’t want any of you wandering.” Rita already had nightmares about losing her students in the Muggle side of the Zoo, she didn’t need it becoming reality. “And remember, this is still a class. I have build in some time for you to explore, but for the first bit we’re all staying together. Now, follow me.”
Rita led them to the one entrance that had only a few people waiting in line to get in. The Muggles couldn’t see this one, which was the only reason it had a much shorter line. It didn’t take long before it was their turn and Rita showed her group ticket for a school class and they were let through. She led the class to the Zoomobile, which she’d scoped out earlier that week as the best way to get all the kids to the right place. She didn’t want them running loose in the Muggle side of the zoo, but this way they’d get to see some of it. The ride would take them past the monkeys and tigers of the Indo-Malaya region, past the kangaroos of Australia and then the giant pandas. It would take them through the Eurasia wilds section, and once they left that the Zoomobile would stop and they’d get off.
“Everyone on board,” Rita said as they reached the Zoomobile. “We’re getting off at the first stop.”
Rita seated herself once all the kids had boarded the Zoomobile and breathed a sigh of relief as the ride took off at a slow but steady pace. As long as they were all aboard, she wouldn’t lose anyone.
((OOC: The first class on the Sphinx was the very first lesson in September, while this class is the last one in September. Also, before they left, Rita handed out some grades, which can be found here.))
