Drusten was so very excited to be hosting his first class tonight. It's been a torturous week of not being able to meet any of his younger students because of the silly curfew. The fifth years and up seemed to always be up and about, which was also very nice, but he couldn't help but wonder if they were allowed to be up. Some acted very skittish when he chanced upon them and then others, like Jai Ollerton, didn't seem to be bothered at all. Of course that young man was a university student so maybe that was the difference. At any rate, he was so very excited that he knocked over two telescopes before the first set of footsteps could be heard on the staircase. Grinning like an imbecile, he greets each student as they arrive. Clasping his hands together excitedly. "Good evening class. I do hope that you are all as excited as I am to learn about these magnificent stars above us." He steps aside so that the students can see the telescopes lined around the tower walls, spaced evenly. "Please, pick a telescope. They are all brand new, an expense that I was able to use for this class so that none of you would have to buy your own. I do admit that telescopes are fabulous items to own, but I didn't want anyone having to buy one when they wouldn't be sticking with the study of Astronomy which leads into my class for the older students, Astrology." Drusten starts walking around, pointing out the various knobs on the telescopes.

"This is the focusing knob. That's the one you'll be using most often because I plan to have all the other knobs set before class starts. Will learn what they all do eventually though. Now then, does anyone have any questions before we start tonight?" He beams at the faces as he walks around and points out the focusing knob to every student beside a telescope.

Hayward arrived at his astronomy class a little bit nervous. That persistent rumor about the professor being a vampire, even if it was ridiculous, of course, meant he wasn’t feeling too enthusiastic about the class.

The professor was already there, welcoming his students to class. Hayward took his place by one of the telescopes as the professor started to tell them about them, but Hayward hardly heard a thing. The professor was very, very pale. The type of pale that made the rumors about him being a vampire suddenly seem much more credible. Of course, Hayward wasn’t completely sure, but as the professor neared him to point something out, he couldn’t help but tremble a bit in fear. What if the professor really was a vampire and bit him? As the professor leaned forward to point to a knob on the telescope, Hayward leaned as far back from the professor as he could without, he hoped, being too obvious, while his heart hammered in his chest.

Ally had heard a rumor around school that the Astronomy professor was a vampire. She'd dismissed it as silly. Yeah, there was magic, but that didn't mean vampires were real too, did it? Of course not. She was curious to meet the professor, though, because there had to be a reason people said he was a vampire, even if he wasn't.

On the night of her first astronomy lesson, Ally practically skipped up the tower steps. She gasped as she walked out onto the top of the tower and saw the star-filled sky above. She had never had a chance to see the stars like this before. She was also surprised to see all the telescopes. They looked so cool! She hurried to find one when the professor said it was okay. He didn't look like a vampire, she thought. His skin was really pale but maybe he just didn't go outside much. It was dark anyways. He might look not so pale in the daytime. There was no way he was a vampire. He sounded so nice and excited about teaching them to use their telescopes. She gave him her very best smile as he showed her where the focusing knob on her telescope was. Ally didn't care what people said. Professor Faris seemed really nice and vampires weren't nice, so he couldn't be one. If vampires were even real. Ha ha! Yeah right.

Avery stifled a yawn as she stepped off the staircase and onto the Astronomy tower floor. She pulled her light grey school robe tighter around her school bag. As interested as she was in the subject, the young girl could admit that right now she would rather be in her warm snuggly bed than out here in the cold windy midnight air. She spotted Ally and Hayward and made her way over to them. She flashed a shy smile at Hayward, but it grew wider as she got to Ally, nodding to the tall, thin (and rather creepy-looking) professor as she passed.

Avery's jaw dropped. The teacher got them all telescopes?! She looked around in disbelief, and saw that other students were looking as incredulous as well. Maybe this teacher wasn't as scary as he looked in the torchlight.

With this thought in mind, she payed attention to all the knobs and dials and screwy thingies that the teacher pointed out to each one of them at their own personal telescope. After he finished helping the first years with their telescopes, and moved on to the next, she turned to smile at Ally next to her. "This is so cool!" she exclaimed, no longer tired and instead excited.
