Hello students and faculty:
We apologize for the inconvenience (I mean, SERIOUSLY APOLOGIZE), but there have been some changes to the classes that we would like for you to look at. We created our classes in a rush when we were being hurried to open Aurora before it was officially ready, so the classes that we put up were taken from the Harry Potter wikipedia, not based on what was a good fit for our school, it's location, or its members. We have formulated a new template to be used when signing up for classes (and all new students henceforth will be using this model), that should make picking out classes a bit easier.
The minimum of classes should be 4-5 (like a real full-schedule term would be), and that earns your student 5 points. Anything beyond that 4-5 minimum earns an extra point per class. The more classes a student takes, the more points they will earn.
First Years - Pick 4 CORE Subjects
- FLYING IS REQUIRED
Second & Third Years - Pick 4 CORE + 2 or more ELECTIVES
Third - Fifth Years - Pick 4 CORE + 2 or more ELECTIVES
Sixth & Seventh Years - (APPARITION IS REQUIRED FOR 6TH YEARS) Pick 4 CORE + 2 ELECTIVES or ADVANCED ELECTIVES
CORE SUBJECTS
Astronomy
Charms
Defense Against the Dark Arts
Flying (First & Second Years only)
Herbology
History of Magic
Potions
Transfiguration
ELECTIVES
Alchemy
Ancient Runes
Ancient Studies
Arithmancy
Art (Muggle and Magical)
Astrology
Care of Magical Creatures
Care of Magical Creatures Field Study (5th year and up)
Divination
Drama & Theatre
Frog Choir
Ghoul Studies
(ghosts/paranormal)
Muggle Studies
(no longer REQUIRED, by decree of the Deputy Headmaster)
Music Ensemble
Muggle Music
Orchestra
Xylomancy (divination with sticks)
ADVANCED ELECTIVES
Apparition (Sixth Years or 16 year olds only; REQUIRED for sixth years!)
Magical Theory
Quidditch Theory
As you can see, Flying has been opened for second years as well as first, and Apparition has become a REQUIREMENT for all sixth years, and opens as an elective for 7th. We feel that every student should be required to learn that method of travel, and that it's as relevant as flying is in the wizarding world. And just like flying, just because you're required to take it, doesn't mean that every student will be good at it, or even like it.
Since I know many students have already signed up for classes (and signed into them), this new structure will not go into effect until NEXT class month (September), but if you want you may go ahead and change your registration. I personally will be changing my characters' registered classes, but this is so I won't forget later. If you do this, please REMEMBER that this will NOT change your current in-session classes. So do not sign in anywhere else until September.
If you do want to go ahead and change your classes so that you won't forget to later (though I will send out a reminder then as well), then feel free to do so. If you're simply editing your previous registration (instead of creating a new post) then please at least post a message saying "Student Name - EDITED" so that we know to go looking for your changes.
UNIVERSITY - we're still working on these, so please have patience. We'll definitely have them up before the next class session, though. =)
