The Care of Magical Creatures classroom is on the ground floor. It has a flagstone floor for easy cleaning and white walls. Above the door is a clock that gives a chime when a class period starts.
At the front of the class is an old-fashioned blackboard, though there is no chalk there. Anything that needs to go up there will be written with a spell. To the right of the blackboard, in the corner, is a mahogany-framed standing mirror. It’s as high as the professor is and quite simple in design. It appears to be extremely old. At the top there are seven carved swirls that are slightly raised. It is positioned so all students can easily see the mirrored surface.
At the left side of the classroom is the professor’s desk in the same mahogany color as the mirror, only brand new. It’s always meticulously organized. There’s a glass holder that contains several quills and two pots of ink stand next to it, one black and one red. There are rarely papers on the desk, aside from the ones Professor Dearborn is working with in the current class being given.
The desks in the classroom are also mahogany and individual. They are pushed together in pairs, with six in a row and five rows in total. Should there be more students in a class, the professor can easily fit in more desks, but as it’s an elective it’s rarely needed. The professor chose single desks so she can separate them when there’s a test to make it more difficult to cheat by copying the answers of your neighbor.
The left wall has pictures of various animals as well as anatomical posters of several creatures. There’s a poster showing the different winged horses, and a similar poster for the different dragon breeds. There’s also a large wall map of the world with tiny pictograms all over it – all the pictograms are animals and their placement on the map shows where they can be found. Without a magnifying spell on a portion of the map, it’s almost impossible to read the pictograms.
The right wall has large windows overlooking the pastures that are part of the Managerie. On any one day, there are either thestrals in the pastures or Abraxans, though never both at the same time.
If you leave the classroom and turn right, you will be led back to the rest of the school. But if you turn left and pass two more doors on your left, there’s a door on the right side of the corridor that leads outside. From there, it’s only a minute’s walk to reach the Managerie.
((OOC: If you want to leave something behind in the classroom, or to go missing, or to look broken, or want to notice something specific that´s not in the description for a thread or post you're planning, send me a PM! I'm sure we can work something out and I can add the change to the description.))
