The fall term at Aurora was due to begin any day now and per her usual routine, Esme had arrived a week or so early. She had spent the summer traveling as she usually did. It was so freeing and relaxing to see new places. However, now her things were unpacked and in place, her classroom was set up to her liking, and now there was nothing for her to do. She hadn't felt like doing anything in the confines of her quarters and Esme wasn't much of the bar fly - besides it was late - midnight or later and she wasn't sure about going by herself to Snowy Vale. And she wasn't tired enough to sleep so the dark-haired woman slipped from her quarters and began wandering the castle hallways.
She wasn't going anywhere in particular, just wandering. The castle was quiet and her soft footsteps echoed gently against the great stone walls. For the fun of it the woman even danced down a few hallways. It was nice to wander in the quiet and do as one wished. A few portraits muttered at her as she passed about the late hour, but she simply smiled and kept on her way. Her bare feet must have had their own agenda because it wasn't too terribly long before Esme found herself in the tallest tower that Aurora had to offer. It was here that students could study the constellations or just gaze at the stars - atleast when their professor was present.
While Esme wasn't fond of heights in the slightest she didn't have to go towards the edge of the tower. She could contentedly stay close to the stairs that led back down to the castle. The summer breeze blew around the tower, bringing it with it the smell of freshly cut grass and woods. Esme inhaled deeply then sunk to the floor of the tower, laying back to look at the stars. This was absolutely perfect, she couldn't have been happier at that precise moment in the tapestry of time. She was so caught up in her stargazing that she didn't even hear the footsteps on the tower stairs....
